After an evenly contested first half Bedwas ran in five second half tries to see off a spirited Rumney side.
On an overcast, cool afternoon Bedwas were quickly onto the front foot to open the scoring after four minutes. Rhys Morgans hit a gap and shrugged off a couple of would-be tacklers to run in the opening try of the afternoon. Lloyd Wilkins added the conversion.
Rumney hit back quickly through a Regan Mahoney penalty after Bedwas were adjudged to have blocked attacking players at the restart.
Three minutes later following a scrum in the Bedwas half quick hands found former Bedwas squad member Dylan Morgan sprint in from forty metres to put his side ahead. Mahoney added the extras to increase the lead.
Bedwas responded with a try from backrower Ben Eedy which although unconverted gave Bedwas a two-point lead.
The remaining twenty-five minutes of the half saw no further scores as defences were on top and both sides made errors.
Bedwas were immediately on the front foot in the second half and a great break from Adam Williams smashing through would-be tacklers set up a try for Tristan Kugler. Lloyd Wilkins added the conversion.
Bedwas crossed for their bonus point winning fourth try after eight second half minutes, Mike Dacey being driven over for a try. Wilkins added the conversion.
Bedwas made changes with both starting props being replaced, the injured Tristan Kugler being replaced by Ben Lewis and Rhys Morgans and Jo Hole making way for Rhys Jones and Alex Meeson, respectively.
Just past the midway point Bedwas increased their lead with Mike Dacey notching his second score of the day again converted by Wilkins to open up a twenty-three point advantage.
Rumney’s task to claw back the lead took a dent after twenty-eight minutes as prop forward Taylor Pescud was sinbinned for killing the ball at a ruck.
Undeterred Rumney bounced back with a try and conversion form outside half Regan Taylor, but Bedwas weren’t finished.
With four minutes to play Harry Oliver burst through a tiring defence to cross for a try, Wilkins converted to quell any ambition Rumney may have had of a comeback.
With the last play of the game Dale Rogers crashed through for his sides seventh try of the day, converted by Wilkins to put the icing on what was a superb team effort by the Bedwas team.
This win sees the Bedwas unbeaten streak stretch to nine games (seven league, two cup) and consolidate second position in the league table.
There are no fixtures scheduled for next Saturday (23 November) as club rugby takes a break whilst the national side takes on South Africa in Cardiff.
The Bedwas Man of the Match sponsored by Casa Mia Restaurant of Caerphilly was awarded to Rhys Peters.
