Bedwas run in nine tries to defeat Treorchy.

Bedwas RFC 59 Treorchy RFC 16

WRU Admiral Championship, Saturday 04 April 2026.

Bedwas put the defeat at Treorchy behind them to run in nine tries in an entertaining game at the Bridgefield writes Ian Lovell (not at the game until the second half due to other commitments).

Treorchy took an early lead from a Jordan Lloyd penalty but two tries in ten minutes from Dale Rogers and Mike Dacey (the latter converted by James Hallett) put Bedwas ahead. Treorchy were reduced to fourteen men following the sin binning of hooker Ellis Fackrell just before the second Bedwas try.

Harry Oliver limped off after seventeen minutes, replaced by Will Fishlock. Bedwas extended their lead shortly afterwards via a Rhys Peters try converted by James Hallett.

Poor discipline struck again for the visitors as scrum half Nathan Griffiths was sin binned but just afterwards Jordan Lloyd added a penalty to reduce the deficit.

It was then Bedwas’s turn to go a man down with Jake Lee sinbinned for an illegal challenge.

The referee was a busy man as he then issued a straight red card for Treorchy’s Fackrell for violent conduct.

Bedwas reshuffled the back line whilst Lee was on the ‘naughty step’ James Dixon coming on at fly half, James Hallett moving to full back, Tristan Kugler to the left wing and Adam Williams moving to inside centre.

Treorchy pulled five points back courtesy of an unconverted Will Carr try with five minutes to play until the interval.

Just before the interval Bedwas clinched the bonus point winning try thanks to an unconverted Aaron Billingham try.

Ten minutes into the second half James Dixon’s try and conversion increased the Bedwas lead following which Bedwas replaced the starting props and Dale Rogers making way for Lloyd Jones.

Bedwas dominated and with twenty-four minutes played were awarded a penalty try as the visiting pack illegally stopped a driving maul close to the try line.

Treorchy pulled a try back through prop forward Morgan Culverhouse which was unconverted.

Bedwas reasserted themselves and three tries in the last six minutes all scored by Adam Williams pulled Bedwas well clear. James Dixon converted the first two and James Hallett the last.

With Glamorgan Wanderers game at St Joseph’s postponed this win puts Bedwas thirteen points clear of Wanderers with five games to play, although Wanderers have six to play.

Attention now turns to the Championship Cup final versus Bridgend Athletic at the National Stadium on Sunday 12th April 2026, kick-off 3-15pm.

The Bedwas Man of the Match award sponsored by Casa Mia Restaurant of Caerphilly was awarded to Rhys Morgans.
