Bedwas maintained pole position in the WRU Admiral Championship notching up a twelfth successive bonus point registering eight tries over a competitive Talywain.

On a chilly, bright mid-February afternoon Bedwas were quickly into their stride. A catch and drive try was on the board with two minutes played, Mike Dacey claiming the score. James Dixon added the extras.

Four minutes later Luke Crane ran through unopposed to double the Bedwas advantage, Dixon again converting from in front of the posts.

Bedwas had opportunities to increase the lead but were unable to trouble the scoreboard operator. Talywain fought hard but Bedwas defence kept them at bay.

A yellow card for Bedwas winger Leo Geraci after 30 minutes for a dangerous tackle opened the door for the home side and they took full advantage with a try in the corner by Dan Knight. Ethan Davies added the conversion.

Bedwas continued to defend to keep out the opposition and with half time closing in added to their lead courtesy of a penalty try with Talywain’s loose head prop Lewis Rosser sinbinned.

Bedwas made changes for the start of the second half and suffered a setback with two minutes played with Luke Crane sinbinned for a dangerous tackle. Undeterred another catch and drive found the home side unable to contain the Bedwas pack which again saw Mike Dacey cross for a try to earn Bedwas a bonus point. Dixon maintained his kicking form to add the conversion.

The heavy pitch saw both sides make frequent changes to tiring legs, but it was the home side who were next on the scoreboard courtesy of a Connor Lewis try which was unconverted.

Bedwas continued to battle and added a fifth try by Brynley Toms, again converted by Dixon.

Two minutes later a fine run by Ben Eedy saw the supporting Jak Robbins run in under the posts for try number six, Dixon again on target for the extras.

Bedwas were not finished and with three minutes to play Ben Eedy crossed for try number seven, Dixon adding the conversion.

Bedwas completed the scoring deep into stoppage time, Mike Dacey completing his hat trick of tries. James Dixon added the conversion to claim a one hundred percent kicking record on the day.

Bedwas have a short turnaround before the next game, which is at Treorchy RFC on Wednesday 18th February 2026, kick-off is at 7-15pm.

The Bedwas man of the match was awarded to James Dixon.
