Re-signing of playing squad begins-Updated 03/07/2020


We’re very pleased to announce the first of our re-signings for the new season- Dale Rogers. 

Head coach Stefan Sankala said: “Dale is an experienced senior player who sets high standards amongst the squad and we look forward to his valuable contribution again this season.”

 

Our next confirmed re-signing is Lewis Bowden 

“We are delighted Lewis chose to stay with us this season and look forward to him reaching his potential with club and laying a marker down in the coming year.” – Head coach Stefan Sankala.

 

Rhys Hutcherson, aka ‘Butch’.

Keeping a local stalwart in Butch at the club was essential for us. Butch has Bedwas blood and is fast becoming a strong leader amongst the group. His input is always valued so we’re delighted to have him back for another big season at the Bridgefield! 

Our latest re-signing is George Collins
Having signed George during the season last year he proved to be a popular member of the team and added real value to the side.
He can operate in midfield as well as out wide and expect him to push on again this year. Another fantastic addition!

 

Mike Dacey returns to Bedwas for the coming season…
Head coach Stefan Sankala said: “We’re happy to have retained Mike for another season. He established himself as a real consistent performer last year and we look forward to what’s to come from him in the coming year.”

 

Our latest re-signing is Owain Keane

Our latest re-signing for the coming year is… Matthew Bovington.

 Head coach Stefan Sankala said: “As with other local players it was essential we retained “Bov”. He is Bedwas all the way through and we were delighted how much he settled in and developed last season after returning from Australia. There is lots to come from this athletic second row and we are thrilled he will be with us!”

 

‪The re-signing news continues with our latest player, Dion McIntosh.

 “Dion played a crucial role in many of our victories last season and he brings excellent structure play and defensive game to Bedwas. We are pleased to retain Dion and look forward to him developing further with us.” – Head coach Stefan Sankala.

 

Next up we have another important re-signing: Rory Harries.

Our next re-signing announcement is Rhys Morgans 

Head coach Stefan Sankala said: “Rhys was quickly identified as a young player with lots of potential. We were delighted he chose Bedwas to develop his career and even more delighted he’s going to continue that journey with us this season. He’s definitely one to watch and we look forward to him applying that potential this year.”

 

Our latest re-signing for next season is… Matthew Williams 

Head coach Stefan Sankala said: “Matty made a real impression this season and quickly strengthened our midfield.

“We are pleased to re-sign him for this season and expect him to kick on and add further impact to how we play.”

The latest player to re-sign for Bedwas is Kelvyn Williams 

On the return of the front-rower, head coach Stefan Sankala said: “We felt it very important we retained Kelvyn this season. A strong scrummager, growing leader and someone who is going strength to strength in our all-round game.

“We look forward to seeing Kelvyn continue to develop and we value his contribution both on and off the field.”

Next up is Alec Jones.

“The last three games proved that Alec has a lot to offer here at Bedwas and is comfortable on the wing or in midfield. He is another important re-signing for us and I am pleased he is looking forward to kicking on and putting down a marker this season and he will certainly add some strong competition amongst the backs.” – Stefan Sankala

 

Bedwas RFC’s latest senior team re-signing is Lewis Evans

Head coach Stefan Sankala said: “We are delighted Lewis has been eager to stay and give us another season.

“Last season was a hugely frustrating year for Lewis with injuries but he is someone we feel has bags of talent and can’t wait for him to take the field fully fit!”

Head coach Stefan Sankala said: “Matty joined us last year and proved to be a big hit not only with how we play but in how he looks to take ownership of the way the game can be played.

“He has a very good rugby brain and brings tempo and structure onto the park. He’s another young man with potential in the squad and we’re excited to see him back in action fighting out for that number 9 shirt.”
