Bedwas RFC start their WRU Championship East campaign on Saturday with a trip to near neighbours Penallta RFC. Kick-off at the Centre for Excellence, Ystrad Mynach is at 2-30pm.
Head Coach Pat McGee commented “As a group we are excited to get this season going. Lots of new faces who with the retained squad have all worked very hard for the last 8 weeks. We all know that on Saturday we have to perform to our best to get the result we want”.
There’s a league debut for Leo Geraci on the right wing with the opposite berth occupied by permit signing Sam Hayman from Llanharan.
Llew Brown starts at full back with Lloyd Wilkins moving to fly half in partnership with scrum half Toby Thomas. Adam Williams and Lewis Bowden occupy the centre berths.
Up front Mike Dacey returns at hooker with Brynley Toms and Rhys Hutcherson completing the front row. Jordan Hole and Harry Oliver are in the second row with the back row comprising of Rhys Morgans, Ben Eedy and captain Dale Rogers.
On the bench there is a potential debut for Jordan Rogers who with Ryan Thomas will cover the front row. Rhys Jones and Will Fishlock will cover back five replacements with Jak Robbins completing the line up as scrum half replacement.
