Bedwas RFC back in action this weekend

Bedwas RFC is excited to be back out on the pitch this week as both the first team and Barbarians sides are back in action following the weather enforced and Christmas breaks.

The first team travel to Ystrad Rhondda RFC (Tyntla Road, Gelligaled Park, Ystrad, RCT, CF41 7SY) for a Championship fixture (but will return to the same venue in two weeks’ time for a Championship Cup fixture). The Barbarians head to Pontycymer RFC (Lawrence Park, Park Street, Pontycymer, Bridgend, CF32 8HD) for a friendly fixture after Abergavenny Seconds were unable to raise a side.

Head coach Stefan Sankala will be hoping his boys will not be too ring-rusty after the inactivity and has named the side to face Ystrad RFC.

We welcome our former prop forward Brynley Toms at loose head prop on permit from Cardiff RFC and there’s a place on the bench and potential first team debut for youngster Dewi Thomas who has been playing with the Barbarians.

The full twenty is:

  1. Iwan Burgwin, 14. Hamish Anderson, 13. Jack Guy, 12. Lewis Bowden, 11. Aaron Billingham, 10. Lloyd Wilkins, 9. Callaghan Smith, 1. Brynley Toms, 2. Rhys Hutcherson, 3. Ryan Thomas, 4, Harry Oliver, 5. Jo Hole, 6. Rhys Jones, 7. Lewis Crane, 8, Dale Rogers (captain).

Replacements:
16. Kalum Phillips, 17. Ben Drew, 18. Dewi Thomas, 19. Sam Davies, 20. Jacob Wright.
