Bedwas play their first game of 2019 on Saturday as they make the short trip to Rhydyfelin RFC in the first round of the WRU National Cup.
We visited Rhydyfelin as one of the pre 2017-18 season friendlies and were comfortable winners against a young Rhydyfelin side but on this occasion there is much more at stake and Bedwas will be hoping to avoid an embarrassing defeat. (Kick-off 2-00pm)
With no permit players selected this week there are a few changes to the starting fifteen. Up front Nathan Hudd has recovered from the chest infection which kept him out of the Boxing Day fixture against Ebbw Vale with Bradley Hill dropping out.
Head Coach Stefan Sankala shuffles his pack and moves Joseph Scrivens to outside half with Ben White starting at full back. Winger Jordan Rees lines up against his former club with a starting debut for scrum half Rory Harries. The side continues to be led by Dale Rogers.
On the bench James Richards makes a welcome return from the injury sustained at Bridgend and there is a potential debutant in Tom Candy.
