Injury crisis sees Sankala name himself on the replacements bench

An unprecedented injury crisis at Bedwas sees Head Coach Steffan Sankala register himself as a player with a total of fourteen first team regulars unavailable for selection. The situation is further compounded by the unavailability of the Barbarians squad who are enjoying their well-deserved end of season tour in Mallorca.

Bedwas RFC is grateful to Newport RFC, Talywain RFC and Pontypool United RFC for granting permits to allow their players to represent Bedwas RFC.

We are also pleased to welcome back Owen Jones at flanker along with Newport’s Luke Crane and Tom Workman at scrum half and prop forward respectively. Sam George from Talywain continues at inside centre and we welcome Morgan Winstone from Pontypool United at full back. There’s a potential debut for Kyle Jackson from the Barbarians.

The injury crisis sees only nineteen players named in the team. They are:

  1. Morgan Winstone, 14. Liam C. Jenkins, 13. Aaron Billingham, 12. Sam George, 11. Jack Guy, 10. James S. Dixon, 9. Luke Crane; 1. Ben Drew, 2. Dale Rogers, 3. Ryan Thomas, 4. Harry Oliver, 5. Matthew Bovington, 6. Tom Chapman, 7. Owen Jones, 8. Ben Sier.

Replacements: 16. Tom Workman, 17. Ieaun-Rhys Beal, 18. Steffan Sankala, 19. Kyle Jackson.
