Bedwas returned to winning ways with a five try victory over a battling Ystalyfera.

The visitors had first chance to score after 4 minutes but Gareth Jones’s penalty attempt was off target.
Lloyd Wilkins was accurate with his penalty attempt to put Bedwas ahead after 8 minutes.

Jacob Wright crossed for Bedwas halfway through the half with the conversion attempt unsuccessful.
Fera’s Sam Conley missed with a penalty attempt after 28 minutes but with half time approaching Aaron Billingham crossed for the home side but again the conversion attempt was off target.

Conley found his range just before the break with a successful penalty.

Bedwas increased the lead after 45 minutes with a Dan Hill try converted by Lloyd Wilkins.

Bedwas bought on Iwan Burgwin at full back and moved James Hallett to fly half to replace Lloyd Wilkins. Shortly afterwards Lewis Bowden crossed for the Bedwas 4th and bonus point winning try. Hallett added the extras.

The game sparked into life with a fight in back play and after a long lecture from referee John Darcy Bedwas’s Matthew Bovington and Ystalyfera hooker Glenn Owens were sent off.

Iwan Burgwin rounded off the scoring with a try with three minutes left to play, Hallett’s conversion making the score Bedwas 34 Ystalyfera 3.

Man of the Match voted for by the Match Sponsors Alpha Omega Construction was awarded to Lewis Bowden.

Next Saturday sees the start of the WRU Autumn Internationals with Wales hosting New Zealand to Cardiff with a 15-15hrs kick-off. The game will be shown in the Bedwas clubhouse – all welcome!
