Bedwas in Cup action as Rhys Hutcherson makes 200th appearance.

Bedwas host Trebanos RFC in Round 2 of the WRU Championship Cup on Saturday, kick-off 2-30pm.

Cup rules allow teams to field a 23-man squad so it is hoped that Bedwas can put their recent disappointing form behind them and progress to round 3. Trebanos are no strangers to us, as we managed two league victories against them last season, but they were the victors in our previous cup encounter at the National Stadium.

This season Trebanos have won two out of their six league fixtures this season, those wins coming in their last two games against Ammanford and Maesteg Quins.

Pat McGee commented ahead of the game “It’s been a hard couple of weeks with results and performances not going to plan. We have worked hard all week in preparation for our cup tie with Trebanos.”

Our congratulations and thanks go to Rhys ‘Butch’ Hutcherson who makes his 200th appearance for Bedwas in this game. Gareth Allen starts in the second row with Jo Hole and there’s a return for Tommy Chapman in the back row. Adam Williams returns from holiday to take the inside centre berth accompanied by Hamish Anderson. Aaron Billingham comes in on the wing with Morgan Winstone at full back.

On the bench there’s a return for Kalum Phillips following injury and we welcome Liam Beer a second row/back row forward recently signed from Cwmbran.

The full 23-man squad is:
15. Morgan Winstone, 14. Aaron Billingham, 13. Hamish Anderson, 12. Adam Williams, 11. Liam Jenkins, 10. James Dixon, 9. Jacob Wright; 1. Ioan Hill, 2. Arwel Hughes, 3. Rhys Hutcherson, 4. Gareth Allen, 5. Jo Hole, 6. Tommy Chapman, 7. Will Fishlock, 8. Dale Rogers ©
