2023-24 Season begins with home game versus Beddau

Bedwas kick-off their 2023-24 WRU Admiral Championship season with a home fixture against Beddau RFC.

Head Coach Pat McGee has recruited some new faces over the summer and some of them will feature in today’s game.

McGee commented ‘Preparation has been less than ideal in that we haven’t been able to secure any friendly matches. The players have worked hard on the training pitch and whilst it will take a while for everyone to gel all have bought into what I want to achieve here.’

The selected side sees a debut for full back Gethin Coleman who previously represented Bedlinog and a starting debut for flanker Angus Brown who made a replacement appearance for Bedwas last season at Bargoed. Brown previously represented Abergavenny. Jak Robbins also makes his debut at scrum half and joins Bedwas from Porthcawl.

On the bench are two further debutants in Lucas Weeks and Owain Jones both of whom join us from Risca RFC.

There is a welcome return from injury for Hamish Anderson.
