Swansea RFC 32 Bedwas RFC 14

Bedwas completed a third difficult weekend on the road with director of rugby Steve Laws looking for his team to turn bright endeavour into scoreboard pressure.
The Bridge Field outfit were dumped out of the Swalec Cup with a four tries-to-two defeat at Swansea, which followed a 48-18 league defeat away to Neath. Now they are preparing to head to Pontypridd.
But, at times during the tie with Swansea, Bedwas often looked the better side and led 7-5 during the first half before flanker Rob Carter got yellow-carded and they then leaked two tries
“I think we played with a lot of endeavour and we came with the attitude to give it all we had and make it a game,” said Laws.
“What hurt us was a lot of turnovers and two yellow cards was an issue.
“I thought the yellow card to Rob Carter was very harsh. That tackle had been made 50 times before and no-one had got punished.
“We probably would have still lost the game, but it would have made matters easier to have 15 men on the park for 80 minutes.”
Swansea: Tries: S Jones, R Jones, R Pitman, J Dixon; cons: J Dixon (3); pens: J Dixon (2).
Bedwas: Tries: E Foils (2); cons: S Thomas.
