Llanelli trip proves fruitless

Llanelli RFC 32 Bedwas RFC 7

Principality Welsh Premiership, Thursday 24 March 2011.

Match report by Ian Lovell (based on information found on the internet!!)

LLANELLI’S chances of sealing an end-of-season play-off place were enhanced with a comfortable bonus-point victory over Bedwas at Parc y Scarlets.

Outside-half Owen Williams twice made breaks to score Llanelli’s opening try which he also converted.

On 27 minutes Llanelli registered their second try. A quick-thinking kick-and-chase from scrum-half Justin James saw wing Lee Williams go over.

Bedwas made life harder for themselves on the half-hour when prop Matthew Petitt received a yellow card for an alleged stamp.

Bedwas tried to get back into the game but with lock James Murphy becoming the second Bedwas forward in the bin, Llanelli scored a third try as centre Nick Reynolds ran in from 40 metres out.

And, six minutes later, the home side had scored their bonus-point try with Lee Williams putting flanker Matt Gilbert over.

Bedwas didn’t give up and scored a try in injury time through Kieran Crawford, converted by Stuart Thomas whilst Llanelli’s Owen Williams was in the sin bin
