Bedwas weather the storm to emerge victors

BEDWAS jumped from ninth to seventh in the Welsh Premiership table after a fine 17-9 victory over Tonmawr at a wet and windy Whitworth ground.

Bedwas caught the home team cold in the first minute when scrum half James Pizey went to the blindside, Stuart Thomas was in support to cross in the corner. Thomas picked himself up to convert from out wide.

 Three Luke Richards penalties edged Tonmawr in front.

In the second half intelligent play by the Bedwas pack enabled replacement Gareth Williams to touch down. Bedwas defended resolutely for the entire half to keep out their opponents

Stuart Thomas added the conversion and clinched the game with a 69th-minute penalty for a thoroughly deserved win.


Bedwas Man of the Match Phil Sargent, he tackled himself to a standstill.
