Leigh lands bonus for Cardiff

Cardiff 29-8 Bedwas
WALES Under-20 full-back Leigh Halfpenny raced in from halfway in the 79th minute to seal Cardiff’s bonus point win which puts the Arms Park club at the top of the Premiership table for the first time.
But the Blue-and-Blacks made heavy weather of beating a limited Bedwas outfit. The visitors provided little attacking threat of their own but their defence comfortably held out Cardiff’s thrusts until the final stages.
In a dire first half, Cardiff’s only points came from a converted try by Gareth Chapman after Ryan Howells had burst through midfield, while all Bedwas could conjure up was a 35-metre penalty goal by Stuart Thomas.
In a livelier second half Adam Powell crossed for his seventh try of the season and Nathan Rees added another before Bedwas worked an overlap for replacement prop Peter Harrison to touch down.
Cardiff: Tries – G Chapman, A Powell, N Rees, L Halfpenny; Cons – L Halfpenny (3); Pen – L Halfpenny
Bedwas: Try – P Harrison; Pen – S Thomas
