Bedwas travel 90 miles west on Saturday to take on Narberth RFC at the Lewis-Lloyd ground (SA67 7BT) in the first round of the National Cup.
Head coach Ian Gardner commented “Narberth were major rivals to Bedwas as we both came through the leagues a number of years ago, hence we know how difficult it is at the Lewis-Lloyd Ground to get a result. They will be confident of gaining a Premiership scalp, but we also need to respond to our last two defeats and get back to winning ways. The boys have trained really hard this week and are determined to put in a performance that demonstrates the quality we have in our squad.”
There are two changes to the backline that started at Sardis Road last week as Connor Edwards steps off the bench to replace the injured Ross Wardle and Luke Crane starts at scrum half.
Up front Dan Preece and Jack Williams step up off the bench to join Alun Rees in the front row. Craig Hudd comes back from an injury sustained at Ebbw Vale to partner Geraint Edmunds in the second row with the back three remaining unchanged.
The full twenty three man squad is:
15. Aaron Bramwell, 14. Lewis Evans, 13. Mike Callow, 12. Connor Edwards, 11. Adam Williams, 10. Steffan Jones, 9. Luke Crane, 1. Dan Preece, 2. Alun Rees, 3. Jack Williams, 4. Craig Hudd, 5. Geraint Edmunds, 6. George Lee ©, 7. Nathan Hudd, 8. Andrew Waite.
16. Brynley Toms, 17. Mike Dacey, 18. Rhys Hutcherson, 19. Ben Thompson, 20. Gareth Allen, 21. James Richards, 22. Mike Hathaway, 23. Tom Rowlands.
