Bedwas make B and I Cup debut

Bedwas entertain Bedford Blues at the Bridgefield in their B and I Cup debut, kick off 2-30pm.

Bedwas will be lead by the evergreen Deri Mattravers, possibly one of the oldest players in the competition. Chris Bundy at lock and Tom Organ at blind side flanker make their Bedwas debut in place of Kyle Maiden and Simon Grainger who are rested.

Behind the scrum Iain Smerdon at centre and Ryan Owen on the left wing return after injury lay-offs. Dead eye kicker Richard Powell starts at outside half having been a second half replacement in last weeks victory over Neath.

Bedwas RFC would like to remind season ticket holders that this and subsequent home Cup matches is an 'ALL PAY' game and not included under the terms of season tickets.

Bedwas chairman Mark Lewis commented:

“Bedwas RFC are delighted to be involved in the British & Irish Cup This game against the Bedford Blues who are flying high in the English Championship is probably up there as one of our biggest occasions in the modern era since the leagues began. I hope it lifts the profile of the Premiership and of course the profile of Bedwas RFC, we are competing at the highest level we possibly can. I would love to see the community come out to support us and I would love to see Bedwas bring some of their second half form from the game against Neath last week into the whole game for this week.”
